Rare 1970 Hess Firetruck Wbox And Inserts1970 hess fire truck the 1970 pumper, the first fire truck in the line, came with a detachable two-piece ladder htat hung on the truck's side and two rubber hoses. Bright red with lots of chrome, it was a replica of an actual fire truck used at the hess refinery in port reading, new jersey. 300,000 produced. Original retail prcie $1.69. This truck is in very good condition. All box inserts (including battery instructions) and box are in very good condition as well. It looks like the original packaging tape is still on the ladder indicating it was not played with, or if it was, very little. Please see the photos. Note i changed the battery (appears to be the original) to see if the rotating light worked. It didn't. However, i didn't want to start taking the truck apart to troubleshoot the problem.
